Nepotism in Bollywood – Why is Nepotism Such a Hype Today?

With the sudden demise (suicide) of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, India’s film industry, Bollywood, is getting trolled for supporting Nepotism. What is Nepotism and why is Nepotism such a big deal?

What is Nepotism? How did the Word Nepotism Originate?

Nepotism, in simple terms, is people in power favouring their family members, friends or relatives over others. The actual word ‘Nepotism’ is derived from the Latin root ‘nepos’ meaning nephew. In the Middle Ages until the late 17th century, some Catholic popes and bishops gave powerful positions to their nephews, whether or not they were deserving. Since the popes and bishops had taken vows of chastity, hence they had no legitimate children of their own. Nepotism isn’t a new thing and has been abhorred since the ancient times of Aristotle & Confucius. But why is Nepotism in Bollywood such a hype today? Watch the video below.

Bollywood is the dirtiest creative place to be in.

Nepotism has been in existence in politics, businesses, media and entertainment, sports, religion, etc. since ages. But it has again come to the forefront with the death of Sushant Singh. Bollywood is the dirtiest creative place to be in. Despite giving blockbuster hit movies like Kai Po Che, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, Chhichhore, etc. Sushant had to literally beg people to watch his movies. Nepotism in Bollywood came to fore when Kangana Ranaut created a sensation about how some Bollywood biggies and the ‘Super Lobby’ have created a clout that boycotts talented actors like Sushant Singh Rajput and promotes star kids (talented as well as the non-talented ones).

Puzzilla presents a satirical song #GendaPhool on #Nepotism known as ‘Ganda Phool’ – #NepotismSong. Kangana Ranaut gives a smashing reply to Karan Johar’s boasts in the song.
